Welcome to my review stop on the Tasty Virtual Book Tour for I ADORED A LORD, a Prince Catcher’s novel by Katharine Ashe. As usual, Katharine does not disappoint. She is able to create characters with whom we fall in love, a story that keeps us turning the pages, and a happily-ever-after that leaves us sighing and eager for the next.

Blurb for I ADORED A LORD:

She’s intended for his brother. He’s destined for adventure. Then a dangerous mystery throws them together, and all they want is each other.

All that clever, passionate Ravenna Caulfield wants is to stay far away from high society’s mean girls.

All that handsome, heroic Lord Vitor Courtenay wants is to dash from dangerous adventure to adventure.

Now, snowbound in a castle with a bevy of the ton’s scheming maidens all competing for a prince’s hand in marriage, Ravenna’s worst nightmare has come true. Now, playing babysitter to a spoiled prince and his potential brides, Vitor is champing at the bit to be gone.

When a stolen kiss in a stable leads to a corpse in a suit of armor, a canine kidnapping, and any number of scandalous liaisons, Ravenna and Vitor find themselves wrapped in a mystery they’re perfectly paired to solve.

But as for the mysteries of love and sex, Vitor’s not about to let Ravenna escape until he’s gotten what he desires…

Twenty-two years ago, three sisters traveled to England in the company and protection of their nanny. Their ship sank and the three girls were the only survivors. Without anyone to say who they were, the girls were sent to a foundling home. Life wasn’t easy for them there, but soon the Reverend Caulfield adopted them after losing his wife and daughters to fever. Even as the girls desired to know who they were, the only clue they had was a ring worthy of a king – or perhaps a prince, according to a gypsy who foretells that one of them will marry a prince and learn the truth of who they really are.

Ravenna, the youngest of the sisters, comes to find herself at a bride-hunting party thrown by Prince Sebastiao of Portugal. Unlike her sister, Arabella, Ravenna doesn’t believe the gypsy's prophecy and has no plans to ever marry so when she’s tricked into attending the party by her sister, she’s not too happy to have gained the attention of the handsome Lord Vitor Courtenay, who has no desire to be there anymore than she. Of course, neither are thrilled at finding themselves in the middle of a murder mystery when an uninvited guest is found murdered in a suit of armor with a note in his pocket suggesting he had a rendezvous with one of the young ladies attending the party. The party soon turns into a mystery whodonit with a house full of potential suspects.

Katharine Ashe invites us to the best party ever in I ADORED A LORD, book two of the Prince Catchers series. Ravenna is a sweet young woman with a passion for all things furry, and possible even tall, handsome, and furry things, but she’s a determined woman who refuses to allow herself to become a plaything to a man who is only seeking a bit of fun rather than a wife, or so she thinks. I fell in love with Vitor because he knows what he wants and is determined to win Ravenna, but is willing to wait for her realize her own feelings. The cast of characters creates a real party atmosphere, and I’ve known a real life couple very similar to Sir Beverley and Mister Pettigrew, and so they gave me reason to smile.

I highly recommend I ADORED A LORD by Katharine Ashe. I recommend the series as it stands right now as well. If you love historical romance with a twist and fabulous characters that leap off the page at you, read this delightfully intriguing party atmosphere story with a murder mystery, which will keep you guessing to the end.

Happy Reading Everyone!

This sounds exactly like my kind of story! A bevy of scheming maidens competing for Vitor and Ravenna wanting nothing more than to escape all those scheming females! I imagine this will be a real romp of a story, not unusual for Ms. Ashe. I really like her writing. Thanks for the post, Unwrapping Romance! jdh2690@gmail.com
