Unwrapping: Review of IMMORTAL EVER AFTER by Lynsay Sands

I am always very excited when a new Lynsay Sands romance comes along and my excitement over IMMORTAL EVER AFTER, her newest Argeneau novel, might have been a bit greater than I thought since I knew this was to be Ander's story - at last!

***eARC provided by publisher in exchange for an honest and unscripted review.

Blurb for IMMORTAL EVER AFTER:

A kiss doesn’t mean eternity . . .Valerie Moyer doesn’t believe in vampires—until she is kidnapped by a fanged psychopath! After escaping her bloodthirsty captor, she’s through with creatures of the night. Until she finds herself under the protection of the darkly handsome Anders. Not only is she expected to accept that Anders is immortal, but also that she is the woman destined to be his life mate!

. . . Or does it?

Anders felt a connection to Valerie from the moment he cradled her bruised body in his arms. But before he claims her, he must destroy the vampire who almost stole her from him forever. His job would be easier if Valerie didn’t fight him every step of the way. Still, Anders loves a challenge, and the green-eyed beauty is worth fighting for!

Valerie Moyer has been kidnapped, drugged, and locked in a cage in a dark, dank room with other women, some of whom she thinks may be dying. Not willing to succumb to the same fate, she stops eating the food given to her and waits until it's her turn to go for her night out. As soon as she sees her chance, Valerie makes her move.

Anders and his team of Enforcers have followed a police call to the scene of unspeakable horrors after a mysterious caller requested silver bullets and stakes to kill her kidnappers. Once they get things under control, Anders goes in search of the caller who must still be hiding out somewhere on the property. When he finds her, he realizes he cannot read her thoughts or control her actions. His employer, Lucian, suspects what that might mean and orders her brought to his home that he shares with his very pregnant wife, Leigh. Anders is not the most talkative man. He's not the most open and revealing sort but after he begins to appreciate Valerie for who she is, he opens up to her in a way he never has before with that hope that she is his life mate. Now to convince her that she is just that and to explain what he is and what her new friends are. All while protecting her from whomever it is out there that still wants her, even as some of the other girls go missing once more.

IMMORTAL EVER AFTER by Lynsay Sands is, as always, a delightful read, threaded with humor, danger, and of course, plenty of steamy seduction on the part of Anders, but I was surprised and excited about how singular and independent Valerie Moyer was in every situation. She's a heroine to admire. She's not afraid to take matters into her own hands whether it is escaping from a rogue immortal or seducing Anders because she just can't resist climbing such an incredibly tall drink of water. I wish it had been a tad bit longer and had a bit more action but it was still a wonderful read and I loved the inclusion of Roxy, a faithful and loyal canine companion. It was a joy to be witness to the domestication of Lucian, and of course, it's always a joy to have that adorable Justin Bricker hanging around as well as many of our other favorites.

I highly recommend IMMORTAL EVER AFTER by Lynsay Sands to anyone who has never read an Argeneau novel, because once you read this one, you'll definitely be scrambling to read more. For those Argeneau fans who have waited patiently for Anders HEA, it's here, and you're going to fall madly in love with this man. As if we weren't already halfway there with his strong, silent type aura that has always surrounded him. Lynsay has come through once again to provide us with an endearing, exciting, and as ever, romantic happy-ever-after paranormal romance.

Happy Reading Everyone!

What a great review! This was my first Lynsay Sands read, but it won't be my last!

Lynsay Sands is very hit and miss for me. I haven't read this series though and I have read some by her that I LOVED, so maybe I'll give her another shot.

Jen, I compare reading Lynsay Sands to romantic comedies. I admit that some of her historicals weren't always the best and of course, there are always some in a series that aren't as good as others, but there haven't been any Argeneau novels I've regretted reading so far. If you love some comedic relief along with an intriguing vampire paradigm and off the scale sexy heroes and some heroines that will have you wishing you could be bitten along with them, you'll enjoy the Argeneau series. Would I lead you wrong? These stories are NOT for the serious minded. ; )
