Shane Griffin needs cash to pay back a loan. He needs work to earn the cash but when a big paying job falls into his lap, he wonders if dealing with the gorgeous uptown girl whose Miata has dropped its transmission is worth the cost to his heart. He soon discovers there’s a delectable sweet side to Bellamy Blake that makes her irresistible and someone who makes him rethink the decisions that brought him to Pine Mountain in the first place.

TURN UP THE HEAT by Kimberly Kincaid is a sweet love story with great potential but at times moved slow and meandered as if it was struggling to get through the snow on Pine Mountain. Fortunately, Kimberly has created wonderful characters, both in main characters and supporting cast, that carry the story forward, and charming banter keeps the reader coming back for more. I would like to have seen some more insight into Shane’s background and secret long before it was finally revealed over three-quarters of the way through the book, but it didn’t actually come as any big surprise. Having read the Line series and having loved every installment, I think I expected greater things from Kimberly but I know it’s there like the subtle wood tones of a fine wine. I’ll be looking forward to the next one and excited about visiting Pine Mountain once more.

If you’ve ever been in a relationships then you’ve surely heard the inevitable it’s not you, it’s me speech. Bellamy’s greatest woe, yet she and Shane give getting stranded in a snowstorm a whole new reason to venture out to the mountains with someone you’re attracted to. So, I do recommend taking a chance on TURN UP THE HEAT by Kimberly Kincaid because like a good meal, the next course can only get better and you’ll never reach dessert without the journey.

Within Reza exists the hero warrior, the traumatized boy who saw more than he should have for one so young, and a man who questions his own actions every moment out of fear of causing another’s demise because he may not be paying attention when it’s most important. He drowns his demons, his fears, and his desires in alcohol and then curses the drink for making him weak when he needs to be strong to lead his men. Reza Iaconelli is a broken, torn man that we cannot help but commiserate with, fall in love with, and wish to save just as Emily Lindberg does in ALL FOR YOU.

Jessica touches on subjects that most people don’t want to admit exist in our Armed Forces. Subjects that, as in ALL FOR YOU, are swept under the rug, ignored, or blamed on the drugs and alcohol used to self-medicate so that traumatized soldiers can sleep even a few hours a night. War is hell is an understatement – life after war is the true hell.

I highly recommend ALL FOR YOU, book four in the Coming Home series by Jessica Scott because it’s more than just a touching and emotional love story but because it’s a look into the world of the soldier from a view we’d all much rather pretend doesn’t exist. In ALL FOR YOU by Jessica Scott, we watch as a young, inexperienced officer takes a turn in a shoot house that leaves her understanding that a lot of training goes into the making of a good soldier. We watch men who want more than anything to prove themselves good soldiers succumb to the pressures of Army life, and experience the heartbreak of a hero taking his life because everything is about to be taken away from him that he worked so hard to gain. ALL FOR YOU is a must read romance that will leave you with more than a happily-ever-after, you’ll find yourself wishing you could do so much more for our men in uniform.

Originally, from Berkeley, California, Michael Stokes moved to Los Angeles in 1983. He has a BA in Fine Art from Cal State Long Beach with an emphasis in filmmaking. He graduated first in his class and Phi Betta Kappa. His photos have been published in numerous anthologies, and his first monogram was released November 1, 2012. In addition to an amazing book, he’s published calendars that will definitely make you drool. Michael works as a freelance photographer and currently resides in Los Angeles.

I’ve chosen to review only one of the three novellas, although all three are worthy of reading and make this anthology an absolute delight and a must read if you love the whole secret admirer idea but time constraints force me to choose only one. I cannot resist choosing the one that I favored the most and the winner is ….

SWEET FORTUNE by Candis Terry features the characters introduced in the Sweet, Texas series, which if you haven’t read them yet then read this wonderful novella and fall in love with the incredible characters that live in Sweet, Texas for you’ll never wish to leave once you do.

Sarah Randall, former assistant to Charli Brooks who we met in ANYTHING BUT SWEET and won the heart of the amazingly gorgeous Reno Wilder, sigh, but I digress. Sarah went home to L.A. but without her boss and friend, Charli, or her job, life was in need of a change so she returned to the place that felt like home to her – Sweet, Texas. It’s also the place, where a certain Deputy caught her eye and her desire.

Brady Bennett has been burned by love and worse, he was burned by love on Valentine’s Day so anything that smacks of hearts and roses and that particular day just darkens his mood. And he despises surprises, so when a ‘secret admirer’ starts leaving homemade fortune cookies wrapped in heart covered cellophane with sprinkles, he is not pleased. Fortunately, a sweet, exciting, and very sexy new waitress at the diner brightens his day with her adventurous and flirtatious ways.

SWEET FORTUNE, a Sweet, Texas novella by Candis Terry is absolutely a deliciously sweet addition to this wonderful series. Brady is right up there on the sexy heat scale with the Wilder brothers, and Sarah is another heroine by Candis that you can’t help but wish to have as a best friend. As usual, we’re treated to the greatest collection of delightful characters ever created. I love visiting the town of Sweet, and I love how these characters pull you into their story as if they’re asking you to pull up a chair and stay awhile, which is something I love to do.

If you read CONFESSIONS OF A SECRET ADMIRER, a Valentine’s Day Anthology for any reason at all, I highly recommend it’s to read this wonderful story about giving love another chance because you’ve met the right person and finding that love can truly heal scarred hearts. By the way, the other two novellas are just as good as this one and well worth the reading as well. So go for it and at less than two dollars for ebook anthology, how can you go wrong.

Now, I told you I had another special reason for choosing this novella to review. Well, it’s because Candis was so sweet as to dedicate SWEET FORTUNE to yours truly. You got it, she dedicated it to me and I’m so pleased about it, I could burst. After watching Ivanov sit there and stare at her for what felt like a century, he finally moved. Slowly leaning in towards her, their faces were only inches apart. So close she could feel his short, rapid breathing through his nose as it brushed her face. For the first time since the man walked into her building, all of the hairs on the back of her neck stood on end.

That scary focus of his amazing, green-gold eyes lasered right in on her own eyes, when his voice rumbled, “You’ve got it all wrong.”

“I do?” Elena murmured, suddenly shaky. Her inner alarms were blaring. Danger. Danger. Danger. It took everything she had not to slowly slide her hand back and put it on the butt of her own weapon that was holstered on her hip.

“Yes, you do. You see, I’d much rather be here with you.”

Did he just purr that?

“And why would you rather be here with me?”

A louder rumble seemed to come from the vicinity of his chest. What the hell was that noise?

“I’d rather be here with you because I don’t do spoiled, whiny, superficial, bleached-out teenagers. What I do like are mature brunettes who think they know it all. And I like them,” he paused for a second and another loud rumble sounded, “because after I break them in with a well-deserved spanking, make them see that they’re not as big and bad as they think they are, they end up knowing that they’ll never meet anyone like me ever again. Because unlike all the men they may have had before me, I do—in fact—know what to do with a woman’s body. And anyone they have after me will pale in comparison to what I gave them. I like knowing that I took a woman who isn’t a naive, little virgin to bed and debauched her to such a ridiculous degree that she’ll know she’s now just a bit dirty, but in such a delicious way. I like to ruin grown women, you see. They’re more of a challenge. Would you like a demonstration?”

Elena was damn near panting after that. Man, that voice of his was practically a purr that seemed to resonate all the way through her body until it was buzzing through her girly parts. It was such an amazing feeling that she was considering giving him a new nickname. The Talking Vibrator.

Her own breath was coming in small, rapid pants, and suddenly, she realized that she’d not been this turned on for a long, long time.

What in the hell was it about this man that was pushing all her buttons? WAIT. It didn’t matter what it was about him that sent her libido into a frenzy. She couldn’t have him. He was forbidden fruit for a couple of different reasons.

First of all, she was investigating him on behalf of the Major General. Second of all… well, the first reason was all she needed.

Just as Elena was about to open her mouth and tell him no, she didn’t want a demonstration, she wanted a confession, he did something that shocked the shit out of her.
