Unwrapping a Review of HARD TO HOLD ON TO, a Hard Ink Novella by Laura Kaye

I hope you’ve tried out the Hard Ink series by Laura Kaye. If you haven’t, you should by all means, and please read in order since one really does take up where the last leaves off. If you have read the first two novels in the series, you’ll want to read HARD TO HOLD ON TO, a Hard Ink novella by Laura Kaye – it’s emotional, touching, and keeps the series charged and moving forward.

***I purchased my copy for my personal reading but am sharing my honest and unscripted review.

Blurb for HARD TO HOLD ON TO:

Edward "Easy" Cantrell knows better than most the pain of not being able to save those he loves--which is why he is not going to let Jenna Dean out of his sight. He may have just met her, but Jenna's the first person to make him feel alive since that devastating day in the desert more than a year ago.

Jenna has never met anyone like Easy. She can't describe how he makes her feel--and not just because he saved her life. No, the stirrings inside her reach far beyond gratitude.

As the pair are thrust together while chaos reigns around them, they both know one thing: the things in life most worth having are the hardest to hold on to.

Easy Cantrell feels protective over Jenna Dean as he hasn’t felt about anyone in a very long time. He helped rescue her from the clutches of Bruno and his henchmen who’d left her bruised, traumatized, and unconscious. Now that he has her safely within the protective haven that is Hard Ink Tattoos, Easy isn’t going to leave her alone for as long as she wants him close. Wrestling with his own demons, he doesn’t believe he deserves the gentle touches she gives him and the look of admiration and possibly more he sees in her eyes. He has a secret, and it’s tearing him apart.

Jenna understands better now what her sister, Sara suffered at the hands of Bruno and why she did all she’d done to protect Jenna from the world of bad, which Church and his men wish to perpetrate on them because of their father, but she needs to stand on her own. She wants Sara to stop taking care of her, but knows she still needs a strong shoulder to lean on. She finds it in Easy Cantrell, the man who makes her feel safe, calm, and more beautiful than she’s ever felt in her life. She wants to give back to him and when he reveals his secret to her, she doesn’t turn away but embraces him in a way only she can.

HARD TO HOLD ON TO, a Hard Ink novella by Laura Kaye is everything we expect from the Hard Ink series, but it touches your heart so intensely I dare you not to shed a few tears when Easy reveals his secret. I actually lost to a sob while reading the passage and wanted to reach into the pages to hug the big man with a gentle soul. Laura packs more than you can imagine into this novella and does not leaving us lacking for anything. You can’t help but stay glued to the pages, torn by the emotion, and cheering for Easy and Jenna. I can't wait to read the next one, HARD TO COME BY.

I highly recommend HARD TO HOLD ON TO by Laura Kaye to everyone who has read the first two novels in the Hard Ink series because it's Easy's story. And to everyone else who hasn’t yet experienced this amazing romance series, what are you waiting for? It’s a must read series, currently culminating with this amazing novella which brings an important issue to the forefront, one which should never be ignored or pushed aside. Thank you, Laura and God Bless our military.

Happy Reading Everyone!

Easy completely broke my heart! He's been so quiet in previous books, we never knew he had such a terrible secret. I'm glad he has a wonderful support system in his team and in Jenna.

I'm looking forward to the next book!!

I'm with you there, Elizabeth, Easy tore my heart out and shoved it back in again. Wonderful story and it explained just why he was so quiet - the Gentle Giant - in the first two books. I knew there was something deep there and now we know. Thanks for coming by and I'm so glad you enjoyed it as much as I did. xoxo

Lovely review! I bought this book, but haven't had a chance to read it yet. Can't wait to find out what Easy's secret is.
