Unwrapping a Cover Reveal for I NEED A HERO, a Men in Uniform novella by Codi Gary

I NEED A HERO
A Men in Uniform Novella
by Codi Gary

expected to release in October 2015 from Avon  Impulse

Sergeant Oliver Martinez joined the military to serve his country—not plan parties. But after a run-in with his commanding officer, Oliver is suddenly responsible for the Alpha Dogs Training Program’s upcoming charity event. Worse, he’s got to work with the bossiest, sexiest woman he's ever met—who just happens to be the general’s daughter.

When it comes to military men, Evelyn Reynolds is not interested. And with the opportunity to launch her new PR firm at the charity event, she doesn't have time for some sexy, arrogant jerk with a hero complex. Evelyn is determined to keep things professional—if only she can ignore how Oliver’s muscles fill out a t-shirt and the infuriating way he makes her heart pound.

But when tempers flare and a scorching kiss turns into so much more, Oliver and Evelyn will have to decide if this attraction is forever…or just for now.

Review Stop on Tasty Virtual Book Tour for BAD FOR ME by Codi Gary with #excerpt + #giveaway

Welcome to my review stop on the Tasty Virtual Book Tour for BAD FOR ME, book 5 in the Rock Canyon Romance series by Codi Gary. This series is an absolute favorite of mine and so it’s a thrill for me to promote and review BAD FOR ME by Codi Gary featuring Callie and Everett’s story. They certainly deserve their happily-ever-after. Stay tuned after my review for an excerpt and giveaway. Enjoy!

***although I was offered an eARC provided by the publisher, I chose to purchase my own copy to read and share my honest and unscripted review.

Blurb for BAD FOR ME:

Codi Gary returns with another fabulous Rock Canyon romance: when veteran marine Everett Silverton meets the town’s smooth-voiced DJ Callie Jacobsen, sparks fly—but is passion enough to give these wounded souls another chance at love?

Callie Jacobsen isn't about to open her heart to just anyone. Not so very long ago, trusting someone changed her life forever—and not in a fun way. Now she's better off focusing on her career, her friends, and her dog. So when former Marine Everett Silverton takes an interest in her, Callie's more than a little wary. No matter how charming he is, men are a bad idea. In fact, she's got the scars to prove it.

But Everett isn't convinced Callie should shut everyone out—especially not him. He may be a hero to the people of Rock Canyon, but he's got his own demons, and he bets they're not that different from Callie's. Still, he knows it's going to take more than chemistry to get her to let her guard down. Everett will do whatever it takes to show her she's safe with him. All she has to do is take a chance, take a step–and take his hand.

~*~           ~*~            ~*~           ~*~

We’ve met Callie Jacobsen before since she’s become somewhat close friends with Gemma Carlson Bowers from GOOD GIRLS DON’T DATE ROCK STARS. I say somewhat close because although they are friends, Callie keeps her pain from everyone even though her new friends try desperately to drag her back into the world of the living and loving. Callie came to Rock Canyon for a fresh start but no matter how hard she tries, her past continues to haunt her. With her constant and loyal companion, her dog, Ratchet at her side, Callie attempts to live a normal life and fit in among her new friends, but it’s not as easy as her all of her new friends think.

Everett ‘Rhett’ Silverton is Justin’s older brother from BAD GIRLS DON’T MARRY MARINES, and he carries his scars inside and out. After being injured as a Marine in Afghanistan, he came home to a wife who was less than pleased with how he looked now, so she left him...heartbreaking...although he's tough. He’s managing to put his life back together by helping others who also suffer PTSD and has become very adept at noticing when someone is suffering silently. After watching his father nearly destroy the family with alcoholism, he’s pleased his father has joined AA and when his father raves about his wonderful sponsor, Everett is amazed when he discovers it’s none other than Callie, the damsel in distress who he provides aid to during a thunderstorm.

Two broken souls coming together when nature was at its fiercest, but can they survive each other’s demons and open their hearts and wounds to each other?

Codi Gary never disappoints me. This is the fifth book in the Rock Canyon Romance series and every time I read one, it’s as fresh, as intense, as full of fun, and as real as the first ones. I’ve had my favorites in this series but I have to say than none of them so far has touched me emotionally as much as BAD FOR ME. The wonderful characters of Rock Canyon usually carry with them a sense of wonder and excitement over the prospect of new love but with Callie, there’s apprehension, fear, and a need that no other character has yet to carry. I thought it would Everett who would be the most unwilling and hesitant to open up to a romantic partner but instead, it was Callie. This is, by the far, the most intense, yet most endearing, realistic, and heart wrenching of all the stories to emerge from Rock Canyon. It is also Codi’s best work yet.

It’s obvious, she took a lot of time and effort to create the real world of someone suffering PTSD (post-traumatic stress disorder) and it worked splendidly. Everett is Callie’s ultimate hero. He works hard to win over his true love. And there were times I wasn’t sure he’d succeed but in the end, these two courageous people come together just as they need to, and it’s perfect.

I don't usually quote books, but I loved Codi's reference to Blake Shelton's AUSTIN in the line:

"Hey, it's Everett. Leave your message at the beep...and Whiskey?”—Callie's breath and heart stopped—"I'm still waiting."  (swoon)

I highly recommend BAD FOR ME by Codi Gary to anyone who wants to read a wonderful story for whatever reason. This book will make you laugh because we’re treated to the already wonderful characters of Rock Canyon who support and care about these two wounded amazing people, but you’ll also be brought to tears when you witness the pain they each carry and how it brings them together. Any one of these books works well as a stand-alone, however I recommend reading all of them but this one…this one holds its own, on its own, in a way none of the others do. Read it, it’s a definitely great read.

Happy Reading Everyone!

Excerpt from BAD FOR ME:

“I’ve almost got it.”
“Thank you. This was really nice of you, especially when I haven’t given you a reason to be.”
Everett looked up at her, wiping the rain off his face so he could meet her gaze. “You seem to assume that just because people are kind to you, they want something. Sometimes people help because it’s the right thing to do.”
Her gaze shifted away, and he went back to tightening the nuts on the wheel. He’d said his piece, but knew he wasn’t going to convince Callie with words that his intentions were honorable.
He had to prove it to her.
When he finished, he released the jack and gathered up all the tools, sliding them back in the spare tire kit. “I’ll put this and the new tire in the back, and you’ll be good to go. I’ll haul this one off to the dump for you.”
She knelt down next to him and took the kit from him, their fingers brushing. Despite the chill of their skin, heat sizzled between them, sending a shot of awareness down his throat. Her blonde curls were wet and falling out of her messy top knot, and drops of rain were clinging to her cheeks. Before he could stop himself, he traced the pad of his thumb across one, catching the cool droplet on his skin. Her amber eyes widened, and he dropped his hand, cursing his impulse.
“Sorry. You had something on your cheek.”
Callie cleared her throat and stood up. “It’s okay.”
He climbed to his feet and couldn’t help wondering if she’d felt something too. Was that why she kept pulling away?
But if she didn’t want him, why was he pushing?
Because she doesn’t treat you like a defective puppy she’d have to fix.
Grabbing her spare tire from the back of his truck, he slid it into the back of her Jeep. She stood back as he closed the door, and he could tell she was nervous—her hands kept twisting.
“Well, you’re all set. You should get home and change out of those wet clothes. If you get sick, I’ll have to listen to one of those ridiculous weekend deejays, and they play nothing but crap.”
Everett started to head back to his truck, but she caught his hand. “Hey.”
Just the touch of her hand sent his heart from a trot to a gallop. He loved the way her soft skin wrapped around his.
Facing her, he waited, afraid to move a muscle and scare her off.
But she moved so fast, he wasn’t prepared when her lips brushed the scarred side of his face. He stiffened as the warmth seeped through his cheek, his stomach twisting up as a thousand thoughts and insecurities made him wince. Had the roughness repelled her? Why hadn’t she picked the untouched side?
“Thank you. For being kind.”
Callie dropped his hand and ran to her car, as if afraid he would come after her. As she started it and pulled forward, he was finally able to move again, backing up a ways to watch her disappear down the road.
Everett’s hand came up to rest against his cheek, and he realized that he’d lied to Callie when he said he didn’t want anything from her.
He wanted everything. – BAD FOR ME

A Tasty Virtual Book Tour for THE TROUBLE WITH SEXY by Codi Gary with #excerpt + #Giveaway

THE TROUBLE WITH SEXY
A Rock Canyon Romance Novella
by Codi Gary

Re-Released February 10, 2015 from Avon Impulse

Fact: Ryan Ashton has never been the hottest girl in the room.

Prim and proper doesn't really lend itself to sexy, but Ryan's okay with that. She's come to terms with her perpetual single status. Or at least she would have, if it weren't for her deliciously gorgeous boss.

Fact: Gregg Phillips is sex on a stick.

And Ryan knows that if she wants him to sit up and take notice of her, she's gotta take a chance … and ditch the frumpy librarian look she's been rocking for way too long. It's gonna take a whole new wardrobe and the help of the local sex kitten to make it happen, but Ryan's up for it. After all, true love is worth the trouble—and that's a fact.

Previously appeared in the anthology, Kiss Me.

Excerpt from THE TROUBLE WITH SEXY:

"That's great, you guys. Now Mr. Andrews, why don't you put your arm around her and give her a kiss?"

Jim Andrews gave his wife a lecherous grin and said, "Come here and give me some sugar."

Marcie Andrews turned her cheek up for his lips and Jim kissed it with a chuckle. Gregg snapped the smiling Marcie and looked down at his camera.

"Okay, so I have about a hundred pictures. Why don't you come by tomorrow afternoon around two and I'll show you the top thirty? You can choose your prints then."

"But we're getting a CD right? Can't we just print the ones we want?" Mrs. Andrews asked, her head cocked to the side innocently.

Interview Stop on the RETURN OF THE BAD GIRL by Codi Gary Print Tour + #Giveaway

Welcome to my stop on the RETURN OF THE BAD GIRL by Codi Gary Print Tour! Yes, it's now in PRINT! I’m so excited today because Codi is here with me to talk about all kinds of things and her Rock Canyon Romance series. If you haven’t read any of this series, and especially her latest, RETURN OF THE BAD GIRL, you must do so as soon as possible. Codi creates the most amazing and incredibly realistic characters ever to grace the pages of a book. If Rock Canyon were real, I’d want to move there. Feel free to check out my review of this fabulous romance by clicking HERE. Now on to the fun and be sure to check out the giveaway at the end.

So without further fanfare, please join me in welcoming Codi Gary, author of RETURN OF THE BAD GIRL, to Unwrapping Romance …

Amy: Welcome Codi, it's an absolute delight to have you with us today, and I'd like to thank you for taking time out of your busy day to join us.

Codi: I am so happy to be here, Amy, and thanks for having me! *gives Amy a big hug*

Amy: *Big Hug Back* It’s a delight to have you here, Codi. You already know I’m a huge fan of the Rock Canyon Romance, but perhaps you'd like to tell us a little bit about yourself for those who don't know you yet.

Codi: Sure. Hello, my name is Codi Gary and I'm addicted to TV, peanut butter and maple syrup on my waffles, and getting the mail...I like mail...
No, I'm kidding, although I do like all those things. I am a Northern California original who relocated to Southern Idaho, and I adore it here. I always lived in small towns, so when my husband took a job here three and a half years ago, I didn't have any trouble adjusting. I am a mother of two adorable human children and nine fuzzy ones, and I worked as a Veterinary Assistant for six and a half years in a cat only hospital. Am I rambling yet? :-)

Amy: Not rambling and the more you want to share, the better. Here at Unwrapping Romance, authors are rock stars! Which is why I can get kind of nosy. LOL! I'm always interested in what lures someone to be a writer. What, or who, inspired you and why did you choose romance?

Codi: As the youngest of seven kids and with a seven year age gap between my closest sibling and I, I spent a lot of time playing by myself. I used to spend hours making up tales about ants that were my pets, and lava filled pits of doom, but when I watched cartoons or listened to my books on tape, the ones with a touch of romance were always my favorites. When I was eleven, I told everyone who would listen that I was going to be an author someday, and when I stole my first romance novel off my aunt's bookshelf, I knew exactly what I wanted to write. My stories evolved from R.L. Stine type horror/suspense with a touch of romance, to handsome rakes and princes kidnapping their brides. I put my dream on hold and got into one adventure after another, working and falling in love, but I never stopped reading and loving romance.

Amy: I suspect our love of romance share similar beginnings and remains a lifelong crush. Imagination is a good friend and a great gift. Something you have in abundance as is evident in the fabulous town you’ve conjured in Rock Canyon. You've just published your fourth installment in the Rock Canyon Romance series, RETURN OF THE BAD GIRL. Your characters are true to life, their problems and their emotions touch readers because they're real. What inspired you to create Rock Canyon, and where do your character inspirations come from?

Codi: Aw, thank you, Amy! I appreciate that. Like I said before, I've always loved small town life, and I actually fell in love with the idea of Idaho after reading Rachel Gibson's THE TROUBLE WITH VALENTINE’S DAY years ago. After that, I devoured everything else she ever wrote, so when my husband and I were narrowing down where to move, Montana and Idaho were at the top of our lists. One night we were driving to Buhl, Idaho to visit some new friends. I remember passing through Filer, and then while taking the long way through Buhl (which isn't long at all) I got this idea in my head about what the town looked like, and when Rock Canyon came to me for the name, I wasn't thinking of a catchy series title. I just took in the scenery around us, and Googled to make sure there wasn't a real Rock Canyon. I wish there was a better story behind it.

Amy: Inspiration comes where it comes. I think that’s a great story. J

Codi: As far as my characters, all of them have bits and pieces of me in them. I can't help that. But I didn't want them to be perfect people who make mistakes, because that's not real life. We all have phobias, personality and physical flaws, and pasts we're trying to overcome. My characters can and will make major blunders and bad judgment calls, they will over react and they will make even me crazy, but don't we all do that? (And for those of you that never do, then that's awesome.) I have made a lot of mistakes and wanted to kick my own butt too many times, but I still think I'm a good person. My characters aren't really good or bad, that's not what the stories are about. It's more about how we let other people's judgments determine who we are, and it is sometimes worse when you're surrounded by people who have known you...well...since you were in diapers. But that we are still deserving of the kind of love that lasts...as rare as it can sometimes be.

Amy: Wow, that’s exactly what we get in Rock Canyon and I think that’s why this town seems so real. I’ve been able to relate to each of your characters on some level and now it makes sense why. I could be friends with all of your main characters and a few of the secondary ones too.
Is this the last of the series or can we expect more from Rock Canyon? Maybe an HEA for Ellie Willis? Do you see yourself ever writing something other than contemporary romance?

Codi: Oh, no, Amy! :-) I've still got more RC in me...it all depends on if the readers want more. I have a happily ever after for Ellie, AND Miss Know It All *grins*. I would love to try my hand at historical, NA, YA, and erotic romance but for right now, I've got two other contemporary series bouncing around in my brain that demand attention before I branch out.

Amy: Fabulous and I know I still want more Rock Canyon Romance. So glad we will learn who Miss Know It All is eventually. Cool!
By the way, my darling readers, the next book in the series is Callie and Everett’s and you get a teaser for it at the end of RETURN OF THE BAD GIRL.

Codi, if you're like every other writer, you're also a prolific reader. Who are your favorite authors and have any inspired your writing?

Codi: Well, I already said RG, but I'm a HUGE fan of JQ, Eloisa James, Caroline Brown, Johanna Lindsey, Lynn Kurland, LKH, Bertrice Small, Nora Hess, Elizabeth Lowell, Linda Howard, Lorraine Heath, Julie Garwood, Christina Dodd, and Catherine Coulter (in no particular order). Over the last year or so, I've been on a serious NA and Erotic kick, and love getting recommendations from readers too. :-)

Amy: Great list of favorite authors. Many are on my list as well and I think they’re all inspiring.
My last question for you is also my personal favorite. If you could be ANY character in ANY book, not necessarily your own - who would it be and why?

Codi: Wow, that is...wait, no, I already know. Penelope Featherton from ROMANCING MR. BRIDGERTON by Julia Quinn. Colin will forever be my ultimate book boyfriend.

Amy: True love, indeed, and book boyfriends are always faithful. LOL!
Codi, thank you so very much for joining us today, and for sharing RETURN OF THE BAD GIRL with us. Congratulations on this amazing series, and I'm sure my readers are as excited as I am to read more from Rock Canyon.

Codi: Amy, thanks again and thanks everyone, for stopping by to say hi!
Oh, and on top of RETURN OF THE BAD GIRL releasing in print, February is also my Bookiversary, and we are celebrating the re-release of the novella that started it all, THE TROUBLE WITH SEXY on February 10th. Follow me on Facebook, Twitter, and be sure to sign up for my newsletter on my website because we're having 30 days of giveaways going on now!
Thank you so much, and I am so honored that you like my books. I appreciate all the love and want to crush you in a serious bear hug when I see you!

Amy: Absolutely, Codi, and I LOVE your books. Congratulations on your Bookiversary and the re-release of THE TROUBLE WITH SEXY. One of these days, I’m going to be in the same room with all of my darling authors and it will be a major hug fest, I'm sure. xox

Unwrapping a Review of RETURN OF THE BAD GIRL, a Rock Canyon Romance novel by Codi Gary

I  am huge fan of the Rock Canyon Romance series by Codi Gary and so when RETURN OF THE BAD GIRL released, I knew I had to catch up on the goings on in the little town of Rock Canyon. Codi did not disappoint in telling the story of Caroline Willis, the one-time bad girl who left town as a teen and has now returned to start a new life. Come back on Friday, February 6, 2015 for my interview stop with Codi Gary on the RETURN OF THE BAD GIRL Print Tour!

***purchased for my own reading, but I’m happily sharing my thoughts.

Blurb for RETURN OF THE BAD GIRL:

He may be sexy as sin, but she's not afraid of him … or his panty-melting smile.

+++         +++           +++           +++          +++

Caroline Willis returned to Rock Canyon when her father had a heart attack. She’d hoped he would welcome her home and be proud of her after she’d made good and established herself in business, but the stubborn old man was just as angry and refusing as ever. Not to be discouraged, and tired of sleeping on her sister’s couch, she decides to find a place of her own and seek out customers for her consulting business. Having found the perfect place to live, she’s ready to move in but discovers she’s hit an incredibly sexy and equally stubborn brick wall as she is, by the name of Gabe.

Gabriel Moriarty has some demons he needs to exorcise from his past. He has a lot to make up for and one of those things is an apology to his former best friend, Chase Trepasso. Rock Canyon seems to be the perfect place to set up his custom motorcycle shop. It’s a town where no one knows the past he's ashamed of, where his best friend lives, and it’s close enough to where his sister is being cared for that he can make sure she’s well and see her as often as he wants. The two-bedroom apartment he found is perfect. The rent is good and he can’t wait to move in, but there’s a gorgeous fly in the ointment. With a simple suggestion from his sister, he offers to let the beautiful, and far too sexy and very stubborn, Caroline Willis share the apartment. When he made the offer, he thought he could live in close quarters with her but it doesn’t take long for him to find himself desiring her more than he should, and wanting to protect her from whatever demons are chasing her too.

Caroline and Gabe are made for each other. Both are fearful of opening up to anyone yet the trust begins to build between them even as they fight it. Caroline begins to see a multitude of layers in the gorgeous man who presents an even harder shell to the outside world than she does. When her past comes back to threaten her and her sisters, it’s Gabe who gives her the strength to face it head on. Even though Caroline is a take no crap from anyone kind of gal, there’s one person who makes her quake in her boots. To protect Gabe, she finds the strength to take control and defeat him. Loved, loved it! In return, Caroline helps Gabe see the hero that lies deep within him, which he’s determined to deny but eventually allows to come forth for those he loves.

Every visit to Rock Canyon is like coming home. The secondary characters we’ve come to know and love, and not like so much, make this place real in our imaginations. RETURN OF THE BAD GIRL by Codi Gary is a coming home story filled with humor, angst, good times, and bad. It’s about family, friends, forgiveness, and how even the worst things done for whatever reason can be forgiven and give strength to those affected by the deeds. Caroline and Gabe are kindred spirits who find each other, clash delightfully, create delicious sexual tension, and then come together with explosive intensity. I enjoyed watching these characters grow and become complete by finding the person they really are and how together, they could share, trust, and love each other.

I highly recommend RETURN OF THE BAD GIRL, book four in the Rock Canyon Romance series by Codi Gary because coming home to face your life is an experience worth doing. I love this series more with each book, and I’m going to keep coming back to Rock Canyon and the wonderful inhabitants conjured by the incredible imagination of Codi Gary. I hope you will too.

Happy Reading Everyone!

Promo for BAD GIRLS DON'T MARRY MARINES, a Rock Canyon Romance novel by Codi Gary

Why should bad boys have all the fun?
With bad boys and alpha males dominating the romance scene,
Codi Gary is putting a feminine twist on this trendy trope

BAD GIRLS DON’T MARRY MARINES
By Codi Gary

(Avon Impulse | On Sale: 5/27/2014| eBook ISBN 9780062331731| $1.99)

Since bursting onto the romance scene with her debut novel, Things Good Girls Don’t Do, Codi Gary has made a name for herself writing steamy, sexy, contemporary romances with a twist—anything from a good girl’s “bucket list”, to an unlikely second chance romance with a rock star. Now, Codi is tackling the trend that is ruling Romance-landia: bad boys. But why should they have all the fun? Codi is taking this fan-favorite trope and putting her personal mark on this trend, turning the tables on gender norms with her latest Rock Canyon novel, Bad Girls Don’t Marry Marines.

Tattoos? Check. Gambling? Check. Racy photos? Questionable romantic past? It’s all “been there, done that” for bad girl Valerie Willis. She’s the resident wild child of Rock Canyon, and her father is a local politician, which makes the familial climate for her…uncomfortable to say the least. Valerie tries to dodge vicious rumors about herself and appease her father by heading off to a single’s weekend at a matchmaking resort in a town called “True Love”—only to have her good-boy fantasy, Justin Silverton, follow her there. Bad girls like Valerie may not get to marry marines, but Justin is a man worth being good for. Readers can re-visit favorite characters from Codi’s previous novels, and get to know the new knock-out couple in town in Bad Girls Don’t Marry Marines, available wherever e-books are sold as of 5/27. If you’ve got any questions, please feel free to let me know—I look forward to hearing from you!

About the Book

The bad girl who stole his heart…

Valerie Willis has done it all: tattoos, one-night stands, even strip-poker. And now, she can add getting a messy public divorce to that list. Back in her hometown of Rock Canyon, Val just wants to bury her head and wait for the scandal to pass. But when she suddenly finds herself at a single’s weekend face-to-face with former flame Justin Silverton, hiding from her heart - and the sexy Marine - won’t be that simple.

Is just too good to let go…

It’s been ten years since Justin kissed Val, but he still remembers the way they just seemed to…fit. Since then he’s served his country and helped his father keep their ranch intact, but he never forgot Val or her wild ways. So when a twist of fate brings him the chance to chase her across state lines and spend a weekend winning her heart, Justin’s all in. Because when he sees something he wants, he fights for it. And he’s ready to fight for the right to call this bad girl his one and only.

But when she suddenly finds herself at a singles' weekend face-to-face with former flame Justin Silverton, hiding from her heart—and the sexy Marine—won't be that simple.

Is just too good to let go …

It's been ten years since Justin kissed Val, but he still remembers the way they just seemed to…fit. Since then he's served his country and helped his father keep their ranch intact, but he's never forgotten Val or her wild ways. So when a twist of fate brings him the chance to chase her across state lines and spend a weekend winning her heart, Justin's all in. Because when he sees something he wants, he fights for it. And he's ready to fight for the right to call this bad girl his one and only.

At the beginning of William Shakespeare’s ROMEO AND JULIET, we are told:
Two households, both alike in dignity
Where civil blood makes civil hands unclean.
From forth the fatal loins of these two foes
A pair of star-cross'd lovers take their life;

Well, thankfully in BAD GIRLS DON’T MARRY MARINES by Codi Gary, our star-crossed lovers don’t kill themselves but this romance is every bit as angst-driven and tenuous as the love affair of Romeo and Juliet minus the sword fights and deaths. Valerie Willis has an overbearing father who like Juliet’s feels the need to rule her world, her life, and her love life. He chose Val’s ex-husband for her and that was a huge disaster yet the man feels he should choose her next one as well. When she was a teen, he discovered her dating the son of his enemy and sent her away to keep them apart and now that she’s back in town, he’s trying to do it again. This time Val is wiser and thankfully, tougher. She decides she’ll see whom she wishes, when she wishes, and only under blackmail does she give in – but only a little bit.

Justin Silverton’s never forgotten Val Willis and the summer nights that left his heart attached to hers and he never understood why she just disappeared from town without even so much as a ‘get lost’. But now, she’s back and looking better than ever. He doesn’t believe all that ‘bad girl’ talk that follows her and when he discovers she’s going to a dating weekend in True Love, Nevada, he decides to go too, and win her over. What he discovers is that both are caught in a battle between their fathers and even though he’s willing to stand strong, Val isn’t and he’s determined to find out why and to break the hold her father has on her.

BAD GIRLS DON’T MARRY MARINES, book three in the Rock Canyon Romance series by Codi Gary is all about falling in love, pursuing what you want, and not letting anyone deter you once you know exactly what you want. Both Justin and Val are caught by the determination of an interfering parent but they don’t let him stomp down their passion, determination, or love for each other and their families. Codi throws in plenty of tension between Edward Willis and his three daughters reminiscent of King Lear to round out the nearly forbidden Romeo and Juliet-esque romance. As always, Codi’s secondary characters round out the cast making it feel like home. This time it’s the wild and crazy little sister, Ellie, and the charming, want-to-know-him-better Everett, brother to Justin. Codi just keeps getting better and her characters continue to pull you deeper into this series. Besides, who really can resist a Joe Manganiello-type hero, right?

I highly recommend the truly romance driven contemporary romance, BAD GIRLS DON’T MARRY MARINES by Codi Gary, to anyone who loves a love story with meddling parents, matchmakers, some nasty folks thrown in, and sisters and brothers who are pain in the butts just enough to make them lovable. Justin and Val are perfect for each other – so perfect that everyone’s pulling for them, even Gus the bulldog.

Happy Reading Everyone!
