Wacky Wednesday! MAGIC & MAYHEM with authors JESSA SLADE and ELLE JAMES

Jessa Slade and Elle James
Well, I had jury duty yesterday and I was on call for today - yep, they caught me! Lucky me, I didn't get called for today but to make sure that you were still going to have fun on this hump day, I'd already planned on turning the blog over to some friends who I know will make you smile - authors Jessa Slade and Elle James. These two incredible authors have some new books out and are here to talk about them, some magic and maybe cause a little mayhem.

Please welcome Jessa Slade and Elle James to UNWRAPPING ROMANCE and be kind to them. I'll be around but since I'm covered today, I'm going to take the day and do some writing. That's a good thing, right? Enjoy your day with these two fabulous ladies and be sure to check out their awesome giveaway! Jessa and Elle, welcome and thank you for taking over today.  xoxo

Magic & Mayhem with Authors Unleashed!

Writers spend a lot of time in their own heads. Which is a good thing, because if they ever let us out…Step back! We always use our powers for good (well, we almost always try!) but watch out if you make a writer mad; you could end up in her next story and your ending may not be happily ever after ;) You’d think writers of paranormal romance -- like Elle James, author of The Witch’s Seduction, and Jessa Slade, author of A Little Night Muse -- might have some special powers. And you’d be right!

Elle's Thoughts:

If I could choose a magical power, wow, what would it be? I've always dreamed of flying. Sadly, I get motion sickness. Breathing under water? Again, motion sickness could be a problem. How about reading another person's mind? I can barely remember my character's names, think of the confusion! Throw fire? I've been burned...no thanks. Super strong? That might come in handy, if I ever needed to lift a car off a railroad track or sling a rogue demon across a room. How about super hearing? Nah, I like my quiet time. Ability to stretch like a rubber band? I think I'd have a hard time keeping it together. Maybe I need to look at other than super powers. How about being a vampire? Couldn't. I like sunshine and get depressed in the dark, although immortality is something I've often dreamed of and some vampires have highly sensitive sex drives...yum! Shapeshifting? You bet. I could like being able to run like the wind on all fours, able to sniff out bad guys in a single whiff. What about a witch? Casting spells to protect loved ones or to bring down the bad guys could come in handy. Having a specific skill like Deme Chattox with her ability to influence all things related to earth could lead to something twisted or down and dirty...A witch with magical abilities? Hell, yeah!

Jessa’s Thoughts:

The dark fey in my Steel Born series all have a knack, one special ability that is theirs alone. The knack is a private thing that they don’t share with just anybody, only with their closest companions. And I would totally not be like that! If I had a magical superpower, you can be sure I’d be running amok with it. So I suppose it’s a good thing I don’t have any special abilities outside of turning box brownie mix into drool-worthy desserts. (Hint: Get the 13x9 Duncan Hines Chewy Fudge Brownie mix. Use the “fudgy” directions and slightly underbake it. When it cools, slather half a jar of Trader Joe’s Fleur de Sel Caramel Sauce over the top. Melt a couple rows of Trader Joe’s 72% Dark Chocolate Pound-Plus bar together with a couple tablespoons of butter and pour that over the top of the caramel. It’s magic, I tell ya!)

If I DID happen to get bitten by a radioactive mutant alien talking goldfish and get granted a magical superpower (yes, I know, I’m mixing my origin stories a bit) I’d want to be able to add time. Wouldn’t have to be much. Just, say, an hour, here and there. Like, to my reading time. I think most people would call me a hero ; )

If you had a magical ability or superpower, what would it be?

Ooh, thanks for the cool post, Elle and Jessa! Superpower? I'm not sure I could choose just one--super speed? Occasional mind-reading? Being able to become invisible? Wouldn't all those be useful? :D

Thank you for the great posting.

For a superpower I would want to teleport instantly from one place to another...wouldn't need a car then, would never be late for anything including work and would save so much time each day.

Aw, Shauni, you're so sweet :)

Erin, thanks for stopping by!

Flchen1, I have trouble picking just one superpower too. Sometimes I think the Wondertwins power of "form of whatever animal I need to be" would be best, then you could fly or shrink to bug size or rip someone's head off as needed :)

Shipinomore, teleporting would be awesome. Except I agree with Dr. McCoy; having my atoms scattered across the universe is kinda unnerving :)

Hummmm...What superpower would I have...I think reading thoughts...that would be awesome!!

Thanks, Shauni! We're happy to be here!

I love the suggestions ya'll have come up with. I'm intrgued with the teleporting. I love to travel and that would make it sooo much better. As far as the invisible part? Have you watched Hollow Man with Kevin Bacon? That gave me the willies on being Invisible. Loved the concept though.

I would want the super power of banishing housework and laundry forever. You know, maybe just a snap of the fingers and it would all be done. No dancing dishes, mops, and brooms like you see in cartoons. Just done. Over with. Time to move on to something a lot more fun.

**waving at you, Jessa!

Hi Jessa and Elle! Thanks for guest hosting. Y'all are great!

Hi Everyone, thanks for making these fine ladies so welcome. I have to agree that teleporting would be awesome. I've often thought sitting in traffic for hours how great it would be to just snap my fingers and be home. : )

Some type of tech super power for the win - like making a blog post comment post the first time every time!!! :)

Seriously, I'd need to read minds. I am too nosy by nature, and I'd have nothing but pure joy the rest of my life just to know what is going on in everyone else's heads :)

Fun post, thanks ladies!

Melinda

I wouldn't mind being able to use mind control to get other people to do things I wanted, would be great when the kids aren't listening, or when I need the house cleaned.. during my annual salary review...

Unknown said...

I agree with mommylves. Mind control. That would come in handy.

Congrats ladies on the releases. These covers are beautiful as well.
I'd love to have the power to heal and teleporting since it would make getting somewhere so easy especially with having a bad back.
Love this tour.

I would like to be able to read and help people's emotions. Although, it could get scary if the person is too chaotic. Ha Ha! jepebATverizonDOTnet

Thanks so much for the great post. I think I would chose super speed. Maybe I would get everything done faster and have more time to read.

Lisa, yikes! I can't imagine knowing other people's thoughts. Well, it'd be worse if they knew mine!

Hi, Alexis! Banishing housework would be ideal. Or at least if I could teach the dog to sweep up her own fur!

Amy, maybe your superpower is getting out of jury duty ;)

Jessa Slade said...

Melinda, yeah, the supermagicpower to actually figure out the Captcha code would be fabulous! My brain is offended by bad fonts :)

Mommy Ives & Laura, if I had mind control I would totally be used my powers for evil all the time!

Carol L., oh, the power of healing is a great choice. You could use it on yourself and save the world too :)

Jessa Slade said...

Jen B., I think reading emotions would be scary, scarier in some ways than reading thoughts. But to help them would be very interesting... Hmm, sounds like a good heroine ;)

Tammy, LOL! Maybe I could actually get to the bottom of my TBR mountain!

My super power would be to think of something and it would happen. Like think about being somewhers and you'd be there. Think about the house being clean and it gets clean.

I can vouch for Jessa's brownies. If you are a chocoholic you definitely have to try that recipe. As for a superpower, I'd like to see and travel to parallel universes. It would be a way to experience change in safety and decide if I want to return home or stay or continue traveling.

Teleporting please, the idea of being able to visit anywhere and anytime is marvelous...I know one day my closet will yield more surprises, than just clothes that don't fit! Long standing dream I must say!

Suzie said...

Hello, I am looking forward to reading both your books. I have read a few from each of you, but not the Nocturne or Harlequin books listed on the page. For a superpower or magic ability, I would like healing or seer magic. I think it would be wonderful to have a gift that could help people.

My email is suzieqsb(at)aol(dot)com. Maybe time travel should be my power, than I could go back before I hit the button, lol!
