Unwrapping: Wacky Wednesday - Celebrity/Hero Crushes

It's Wacky Wednesday!
It's also Ash Wednesday for those who follow it. That means it's the first full day of Lent - a time when some Christians, through prayer, penance and self-denial, and giving prepare themselves for the celebration of Jesus Christ's subsequent sacrifice for our souls and His resurrection on Easter Sunday. Yesterday was Fat Tuesday, Mardi Gras, a day to indulge in preparation for 40 days of self-denial. Well, I give up so many things during the rest of the year because of diet restrictions and budget that I really don't have an indulgence to give up so I just add extra prayers. However, it did make me think about one indulgence that I have that I probably could give up for Lent but then again, I just got a chance to over-indulge in it just as Lent begins. Reading Romance Novels.

I have been chosen as one of the first Avon Addicts by Avon Romance. This means that I get to preview new books and review them ... am I in reading heaven or what? It's a stint that only last 6 months and begins now. I can't give up reading romance for Lent when I've just been bestowed such an honor, now can I?

One of the first eARCs Avon sent me is THE RANCHER AND THE ROCK STAR by Lizbeth Selvig ... I'll review this for you on Friday as it releases next Tuesday and I want you to have the full scoop on this author's debut novel.  But don't you just love that title!!! THE RANCHER AND THE ROCK STAR!!
ROCK STAR!! And how about that cover? What was that about denial? I don't think so.

Can you imagine having a rock star show up at your door? Well, can you? Have you ever fantasized about a favorite rock star, movie star, celebrity of any kind, or allowed your imagination to take you off into a world where you actually meet your favorite Romance Novel hero? Come on, come clean, we've all fantasized about such things at some time in our life. Perhaps yours is Mr. Darcy?

Well, my fantasy has always been that Elvis Presley isn't really dead and that he shows up somewhere and I am there to meet him. I recognize him, of course, but don't tell him or anyone else that I knew who he is. I keep his secret, we become fast friends and eventually he falls as madly in love with me as I am with him. How 'bout that for romantic fantastical imagining?

So who's your Celebrity/Hero Crush ... who would you love to have ring your doorbell, sweep you off your feet and proclaim his love for you?  Hee Hee!

Happy Reading and God Bless - hey, as part of my Lental sacrifice I give more unto others including extra prayers that are for all my friends.
And delicious covers!  *wink*

If you follow Avon Romance on FB, a few weeks back they put out a call to anyone who thought of themselves as an Avon Addict. You had to apply and then post pics of your book collection. I was one of the first group of 25 selected. It's only for 6 months and then they'll select another group so .... watch for the next application time and apply - both of you would be awesome!! I'm reading Juliana Stone's WRONG SIDE OF HELL right now. Life is good, the only thing that would make it better is my book getting bought. ; )
What? No Celebrity/Hero crushes from you two? Come on, ya gotta have a Hero that you would love to get stranded with somewhere? Ohhh!

I'll definitely have to keep my eyes out for their next "contest" then! :)

Okay, now that I'm over the envy (for now...) I can answer your original question for us: Celebrity Crush. There are a few that I wouldn't mind be stranded with for a weekend... :)

At the top of the list (in no particular order): Channing Tatum (Step Up is what started my obsession for him...), Chris Pine, Sam Worthington (What? Loved him in Avatar!), and... Gerard Butler (if for no other reason than to hear him talk... *sigh*).

Enjoy!

I vaguely remember having a childhood crush on David Cassidy, think I was about 6. I've always loved Elvis, that voice is amazing and he was gorgeous when he was younger. In my teens, it was Adam Ant, George Michael(WHAM! days), Duran Duran, Spandau Ballet.....giving my age away now :)

Hi Beebs, hope you're feeling better these days.
Honey, if you were only 6 when you were crushing on David Cassidy then you're way younger than me!! I was in middle school when it was all about David Cassidy and the Jackson Five ... that's how old I am! LOL!! Also, we're only as old as we think we are. I'm still 25!!
Come back Friday and read my review of THE RANCHER AND THE ROCK STAR, I think this is one you'll like. : )

when i was younger i can remember having epic, highly-detailed daydreams about meeting Jordan Knight from New Kids of the Block and sweeping him off his feet. i also kissed straight through his poster i had hanging on my wall...guess it's a good idea i decided to start writing romance!

Amy Valentini said...

Hi Lila! All the way through the poster, wow, you must be some kisser! ; )
So glad you stopped by. I hope you enjoy the blog. I love meeting other writers, especially romance writers. Have you published yet? If so, I'd love to read your work, just point me in the right direction. : )

Hi Amy!

Geez.....so many awesome men out there....(of course, not counting my fab hubby)...that I would LOVE to have knocking at my door to sweep me away! LOL!

Rockers for me......hmmmm....I would have to go with Jon Bon Jovi.
He's just too cute for his own good! His music is always on my portable CD player. I have his CD's in my van and he's also on my mini iPod Shuffle.
Plus, he still looks hot in his jeans!

Actor's....I've always had a big crush on Paul Newman. I thought he was one heck of a man. What a cutie he was, with those BEAUTIFUL eyes!! Geez.....I really loved his eyes. I know he's been gone since September of 2008, but I can still dream about him.

Otherwise I"ll take Gerard Butler, Eric Bana, Russell Crowe, Colin Firth, Viggo Mortenson, Mark Wahlberg, Hugh Jackman, Colin Farrell........
:-D

Wow Dalila, you've got an awesome list there!! I have to agree right on down the line starting with Bon Jovi ... if you look at the picture I have in the header of Cathy Maxwell's THE SEDUCTION OF SCANDAL ... doesn't he look like a really young Bon Jovi? It's why I love that cover.
I might just have to present your list along with others in these comments as a post all on their own ... a Celebrity Crush List pictoral. Hmmm ... might have next Wed's post. Thanks sweetie. : )
