Tasty Book Tours Release Day Blast for THE LEGEND OF LYON REDMOND by Julie Anne Long with #excerpt + #giveaway

THE LEGEND OF LYON REDMOND
Pennyroyal Green #11
by Julie Anne Long

 available now from Avon Romance

Bound by centuries of bad blood, England’s two most powerful families maintain a veneer of civility...until the heir to the staggering Redmond fortune disappears, reviving rumors of an ancient curse: a Redmond and an Eversea are destined to fall disastrously in love once per generation.

An enduring legend

Rumor has it she broke Lyon Redmond’s heart. But while many a man has since wooed the dazzling Olivia Eversea, none has ever won her—which is why jaws drop when she suddenly accepts a viscount’s proposal. Now London waits with bated breath for the wedding of a decade…and wagers on the return of an heir.

An eternal love

It was instant and irresistible, forbidden...and unforgettable. And Lyon—now a driven, dangerous, infinitely devastating man—decides it’s time for a reckoning. As the day of her wedding races toward them, Lyon and Olivia will decide whether their love is a curse destined to tear their families part...or the stuff of which legends are made.

Excerpt:

He’d last seen Pennyroyal Green in the dead of night almost five years ago. His trajectory since then had been as swift and mindless as if he’d been shot from a cannon. And it wasn’t just because of what Olivia had said to him in the garden after midnight, in the pouring rain. Though after she’d said what she’d said, for a time he’d stopped caring what became of him.
No, that fuse had been lit for longer than anyone knew.
No one from Sussex had seen him since.
Though one had certainly tried. He half smiled at the thought of Violet.
And it was this that had broken the speed of his trajectory.
And he’d had his own methods for remaining, however tangentially, informed about the lives of those he’d left behind. He’d proved something over the past five years. He’d at first thought it was all for Olivia. But he was no longer certain. He’d tried to purge his life of her, relinquishing even her miniature.
Clearly it hadn’t worked.
But what no one knew, not even his crew, was that this was his final voyage. He’d risked this trip into London to track down the source of a little mystery that could devastate Olivia and her family.
He now had his answer.
He was, strangely, not surprised by it.
But he hadn’t been prepared to make a decision about what to do next so soon.
Oh, Liv, he thought.
Suddenly it hurt to breathe. Fragments of memories rushed at him, each distinct as stained glass.
Olivia walking along the road to the Duffys’ house, then breaking into a run when she saw him waiting beneath the elm tree, her face lighting like a star. As if even a second away from him was wasted.
That was the memory that always came to him in his darkest moments.
And now she was giving herself to another man.
His fingers curled on a surge of emotion. But he stopped just short of giving the message the crushing it deserved.
She. If Lavay had indeed written that word, he might have seen her, or even talked to her, or …
He couldn’t do it.
He couldn’t bloody do it.
And this is what decided him.
He tucked the message into his coat. “You can go, Ramsey,” he said. “Thank you.”
The footman spun and nearly bolted, silver braid glinting in the sun.
Lyon turned to face all the expectant faces of his crew.
“And we,” he told them, “are staying in England.”
It was time for a reckoning.

Don't forget to check out the rest of the Pennyroyal Green series!

 About the Author:

Julie Anne Long originally set out to be a rock star when she grew up, and she has the guitars and the questionable wardrobe stuffed in the back of her closet to prove it. When playing to indifferent crowds at midnight in dank clubs lost its, ahem, charm, she realized she could incorporate all of the best things about being in a band—namely, drama, passion and men with unruly hair—into novels, while at the same time indulging her love of history and research. So she made the move from guitar to keyboard (the computer variety) and embarked on a considerably more civilized, if not much more peaceful, career as a novelist.
Julie lives in the San Francisco Bay Area with a fat orange cat. (Little known fact: they issue you a cat the minute you become a romance novelist.)

Unwrapping a Review for ABOUT A VAMPIRE, an Argeneau novel by Lynsay Sands

As a huge fan of the Argeneau series by Lynsay Sands, I have been waiting, somewhat patiently, for Bricker to get his story. Well, it’s finally here. ABOUT A VAMPIRE, book 22 of the Argeneau series by Lynsay Sands releases tomorrow, September 29, 2015 and the adorable Justin Bricker gets his HEA.

***eARC provided by publisher via Edelweiss in exchange for an honest and unscripted review

Blurb for ABOUT A VAMPIRE:

In New York Times bestselling author Lynsay Sands' new Argeneau novel, a vampire accustomed to seducing every woman he meets finds the one determined to resist him...

With immortal good looks and scorching charisma, Justin Bricker has yet to meet a woman he can't win over. His potential life mate should be no different. But instead of falling into his bed, Holly Bosley runs away and ends up mortally wounded. To save her, he has to turn her. And then Bricker learns the shocking truth: Holly's already married.

Holly wakes up with a bump on her head, a craving for blood, and a sexy stranger who insists they belong together. She needs Bricker's help to control her new abilities, even as she tries to resist his relentless seduction. Choosing between the world she knows and the eternity he offers is impossible. But Justin is fighting for his life mate—maybe even his life—and he'll break every rule to do it.

v**v           v**v           v**v         v**v           v**v

Holly Bosley is content with her life, her marriage, and has great hopes for a career as an accountant once her schooling is complete. Working in a temp position, she’s doing the taxes for a funeral home. Ideal, it might not be, but it’s a good position even though she’s a little freaked out over the whole idea of what goes on at the place. Now having to visit the crematorium after returning to her office in the middle of the night because she’d forgotten her purse there and discovering some paperwork had been overlooked was truly freaking her out. Not wanting someone’s funeral to be held up because of late paperwork, she makes the journey across the dark and creepy cemetery to the building where not only are the bodies of the deceased cremated but they are also stored. Newly dead bodies stacked in a cooler awaiting their fate in the retorts…what the ovens are called by the staff. Discovering two men there that she doesn’t recognize was shock enough especially since they had their own stack of bodies on a gurney. Witnessing a head separated from its body fall to the floor in a splat was enough to send her fleeing for the door.

Justin Bricker was used to the dirty work that came with being an Enforcer in the world of immortals so a middle of the night visit to a crematorium was nothing new. Being spotted by a mortal that he couldn’t read and control was not. The young woman in her pajamas carrying scissors was not anything like he’d thought his life mate would be, but he wasn’t going to let her get away now that he knew she existed. When she fights to escape and falls on the scissors, Justin makes the quick decision to turn her and save her life. Excited, happy, and ready to be united with his life mate, to experience the amazing thrill of having his life mate with him, he’s shocked, disappointed and fearful of retribution when he discovers she can’t be his yet…she’s married.

Of all of the mortals who found themselves as the life mate of an immortal, I think Holly accepted the news and the idea of being an immortal the best, once she understood they weren’t really vampires that is. Although insistent that no matter how connected she and Justin were, her marriage came first and so she would never cheat on her husband. She even thought her sex dreams about Justin were cheating and when she found out they were shared, she was very unhappy about it. But overall, Holly was pretty cool with the idea of being immortal even if it meant dining on blood the rest of her life. I won’t tell you how things end up because that wouldn’t be fair to you but I will say that I wish the ending was a bit different. I felt it was rushed and Justin deserved better. He especially deserved to experience the ultimate in life mate sex but he does get his happily ever after with Holly, eventually.

Despite the weak ending, ABOUT A VAMPIRE by Lynsay Sands is a great addition to the Argeneau series. It’s a story filled with fun, teasing, Bricker’s usual young immortal quirkiness, and I couldn’t have picked a more perfect life mate for him than Holly. She’s a bit a klutz and quirky too. If you’re an Argeneau fan, you need to read ABOUT A VAMPIRE, book 22 in the series and the story we’ve all been waiting for a long time. For the rest of you, if you haven’t tried this series, you’re truly missing out on the most fun you can have in paranormal romance.

Happy Reading Everyone!

Unwrapping a Review of PLAYING DIRTY, a Bad Boys Undercover novel by HelenKay Dimon

I am a huge fan of action-suspense so when HelenKay Dimon introduced us to the Bad Boys Undercover series in the novella, RUNNING HOT, I fell in love with these guys. Inspired by the amazing Cinemax series STRIKE BACK, this series is hot, hot, hot! PLAYING DIRTY by HelenKay Dimon continues the action, suspense, and down and dirty sexy bad boys!

***Print copy given to me by a friend, who I thank profusely for allowing me the delight of reading this, and so I’m sharing my honest and unscripted review.

Blurb for PLAYING DIRTY:

As an elite Alliance agent—the joint undercover operation of MI6, the British Secret Intelligence Service, and the CIA—Ford Decker lives for the adrenaline. But when he befriends sexy property manager Shay Alexander in hopes of finding her cousin, a known national security threat, Ford crosses the line, getting to know her better . . . in bed.

After being burned by her last relationship, Shay wants to take things slow. Yet she can't keep her hands off the drop-dead gorgeous hottie who's moved into her apartment building. So when Ford's identity as an undercover agent is exposed, his betrayal cuts deep. Shay never wants to see him again, but Ford can't let her go, not when her life is still in danger. He will sacrifice everything to protect her, then be prepared to walk away from the only woman he's ever loved, even if it breaks him.

~*~             ~*~              ~*~              ~*~             ~*~

Shay Alexander hasn’t had the greatest luck with men and with an overprotective uncle, sometimes family can be more of a hindrance than a help so when a gorgeous tech savvy guy moves in across the hall, she’s not overly excited about taking their hot off the intro sex every night relationship out into the open. Not that it really matter since Ford always seems to be on call and out of town so traditional dating isn’t really in the cards but he is damn sexy and she wouldn't mind showing him off a bit, even if she is becoming more curious about what he does and where he goes.

Ford Decker – he’s hot, he’s sexy, and he’s dangerous. Working for Alliance means he has the opportunity to do some good, keep folks safe, and not have to get bogged down by too many rules but what he hadn’t counted on was having to get close to a woman he found himself wanting to be overly close to. He was only supposed to being watching Shay in case her cousin, the man Alliance was looking for, made contact or if he saw evidence she was involved in her cousin’s theft of a dangerous toxin, but she was too hard to resist. Now he’s watching her from the pillow beside her own and he hates that he has to lie to her every minute they are together. When things get hotter, and a mole is suspected, Ford has to risk everything including what he has with Shay to stop the bad guys.

Okay, I will say right off the bat that I had hoped for a little more STRIKE BACK styled action like we got in RUNNING HOT. But PLAYING DIRTY by HelenKay Dimon was still a thrill ride a minute whether Ford and the Bravo Team were out in the field or Ford was messing up the sheets, or getting naughty on the kitchen floor with Shay. The suspense created is carried over from the mission to the one on one with Shay and it worked so well. My gut told me that Shay had no idea what was happening around her but HelenKay still managed to make me wonder. I admit, I had the bad guy figured out long before he was revealed but waiting for it was part of the fun. The secondary characters in this series play as important a role to each of the books as the main characters. Getting inside Ward and Tasha’s heads and getting their take on Ford is as much fun as it was in RUNNING HOT. The give and take and slam back that exists between the members of the Alliance teams is definitely as good as anything on STRIKE BACK, and that’s one of the main reasons I love this series.

I can’t wait to read the next one, FALLING HARD, book 2, already available, and then FACING FIRE, book 3, coming next week. I guess I’d better catch up and so should you, if you haven’t sampled these amazing Bad Boys Undercover. I highly recommend PLAYING DIRTY, book one of the Bad Boys Undercover series by HelenKay Dimon to anyone who, like me, loves some gritty, down and dirty, shoot-em up, men acting like macho men, action suspense, and hot dirty sex that will have you fanning yourself and wishing for one of these sexy bad boys for yourself.

Happy Reading Everyone!
And in case, you don’t know what STRIKE BACK is…here’s a sample along with the amazing theme song from this incredible series, sadly heading into its last season. Enjoy!

My Review Stop on the DARK FUTURE series tour by KC Klein with #excerpt + #giveaway

DARK FUTURE Series
by KC Klein

To Buy A Wife – To Keep A Wife – Dark Future

TO BUY A WIFE (Book 1)

In a harsh land where corruption rules and women are few, cold realist Hudson Land must purchase a wife to save his farm. Instead of an auction, he witnesses the start of an execution. With his first look at a beautiful woman in years, Hudson knows he has to have her—no matter the cost. Lake, a chemist and a rebel fighter, is resigned to her death, but when some back-hill farmer rescues her from the chopping block she has no intention of simply becoming his wife. She’s pledged her life to the Rebellion and being bought for some stranger’s bed doesn’t change a thing, even if his soft caresses are damn distracting. As lies and secrets build between them, are the quiet moments they’ve shared enough to stand against two warring factions in a world where only the strong survive.

My Review:

TO BUY A WIFE is Lake's story. Yes, we meet Hudson first, but we learn what he needs from Lake—protection for his farm, his men, future children, and companionship. I feel we even get a hint of his wanting love. After Hudson brings Lake to his farm, he makes a deal with her that she may have twenty-four hours to do what she needs—something she won't tell him—but that she must return willingly to him as a wife and eventual mother to his children. Lake agrees but has absolutely no intention of keeping her promise. It's at this point that I feel Hudson becomes a secondary character. It becomes Lake's story, her journey, her mission, and eventually her fight. Hudson comes across as nothing more than a second thought, and bodyguard. When he does go after her and makes a deal with the Rebels to retrieve Lake's brother, Vonn, I felt it even before he declared it that he would easily accept Vonn into his family—I like Hudson.

Lake is a strong character, a strong female character—KC is good at writing strong female characters—but I get the feeling of Lake resigning herself to being Hudson's wife more than desiring it. There’s a bit more feeling from her at the very end of the story. The romance wasn't wholly evident in this science fiction romance.

You're probably saying to yourself, uh oh, she didn't like TO BUY A WIFE— not at all—I liked it very much, I just would like to have seen Lake recognize the good man that Hudson was from the beginning. He was gentle with her, caring, treating her like the dove in the story he tells her. The premise of the story is intriguing. It carries a sci-fi western-esk feel about it reminiscent of FIREFLY and I like that. I just wanted to feel that Lake really was falling in love with Hudson.

As the start of this amazing series that truly does work best read in order, TO BUY A WIFE is a must read to understand what comes next.

TO BUY A WIFE (Book 1) is currently available for FREE at Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Kobobooks, and iTunes.

TO KEEP A WIFE (Book 2)

In the shards of civilization ruined by a global war, Lake has gotten the life she never dared dreamed of—a safe haven, and the love of a good man, her husband, Hudson Black Creek. But Lake’s hard-won happiness doesn’t last long when powerful Elders lay siege on Black Creek Manor in retaliation for a past defiance. As Lake watches everything she loves go up in flames, she sacrifices herself for the chance to keep Hudson and her brother alive. Syon, a diabolic Elder with his own agenda, will push Lake to her breaking point, forcing her to compromise—heart and soul— in order to survive.

Hudson wakes from a head wound to find that his whole world is reduced to ashes. With no memory of why he’s sacrificed everything for a woman whose name is tattooed on his chest, Hudson is determined to make his heart match the emptiness of his mind, and wipe out everything except the hatred for those who are to blame—the Elders and the wife he sought to protect.

As evil and fear spread across a war-torn land, Lake and Hudson are tested like never before, and both will have to forgive betrayals and risk greater heartbreak if they want a chance at saving their lives… and their love.

My Review:

We met Lake and Hudson in TO BUY A WIFE, and learned that a man, who has a wife, is revered with respect, envy, and believed to have great prestige in this war-torn society. We catch up with Lake, Hudson, and Lake’s little brother, Vonn, in the midst of an attack on the farm. Lake realizes that the Elders want her and will stop at nothing, and spare no one to get her in their clutches. She convinces a wounded Hudson to protect her brother, let the Elders take her, and come for her later. Things don’t work out exactly how Lake had hoped. Now a prisoner of the maniacal Syon, too much time has passed for her to believe that Hudson is ever coming for her. It’s just her again, alone to fend for herself, and her unborn child.

This story covers so much in so short a time that you will almost feel like you’re watching a film in your head. Lake was almost content to be on her own in TO BUY A WIFE, but in TO KEEP A WIFE, KC Klein weaves a wonderful story about the fear of loss, fear of abandonment, and the wonder of how love can pull back loving memories from the darkness and bring a family back together. TO KEEP A WIFE by KC Klein is the perfect finish to a couple’s story that began with a match not exactly made in heaven, but ends with a happy ending which will lead us on even more adventures.

I highly recommend TO KEEP A WIFE by KC Klein, but do be sure to read TO BUY A WIFE first because without that lead-in, the fast paced action of this one might confuse and sully the wonderful intricacy of this amazing tale.

DARK FUTURE (Book 3)

A woman caught between two futures…
Awakened in the middle of the night by a future version of herself, Kris Davenport is given a mission: go travel in time to save the world–and his life. Of course, her future self doesn’t tell her who he is just sends her into the darkness and straight into an alien invasion.
…must choose between the man who has her heart…
He turns out to be ConRad Smith, the callous, untrusting military commander of Earth’s army and the world’s last defense. There’s only one way for Smith to know for sure if this strange woman is an alien spy–slice her throat. Except, he didn’t anticipate the desire he would feel as he interrogates the hot-tempered, warm-blooded woman.
…or the fate that saves the world.
As Kris and ConRad struggle to trust each other in a world on the brink of destruction, they each will have to face the ultimate choice of whether to fight or die… survive or forgive.

My Review:

DARK FUTURE by KC Klein is just that—dark, and dangerous. There’s no deception in the title. The story, written in first person, takes the reader on a journey with Kris Davenport into a very dark future where danger exists 24/7 and not always just from the aliens trying to destroy every human being in the universe. This riveting tale about a future resembling TERMINATOR SALVATION without the giant machines is dark, bloody, and action-packed.

Kris is a normal girl trying to make her way in a normal life as a medical intern when suddenly she finds herself confronted with her future self, who in comparison is more Sarah Connor than Kris Davenport. Her future self tells her that she must travel to the future and save him. Who is this mysterious him? He is ConRad, the Commander of a military force located on a dark world that is the last barrier between an alien force and Earth. Kris reluctantly goes. The connection between these two is turbulent, hot, sexy, and at times frustrating but if you’ve read the first two books, everything begins to come together. The adventure Kris embarks on is none like she ever expected, and over time, she discovers a stronger self and a love that is stronger than time itself. As a time travel, it has its flaws, they all do, but KC does it up well, and this is by far one of my all-time favorite futuristic dystopian science fiction romances—ever! And I’ve read all of KC’s. This was her debut, and oh what a debut!

I highly recommend this amazing dystopian/sci-fi romance, but I warn you that although this is a romance, it is not for the faint of heart. It's a futuristic tale with lots of action but if you're at all squeamish about blood and torture, this might not be for you. If you're good with lots of action, gun battles, evil men, mysterious women and don't mind some scenes of torture, then you'll not be able to put it down. I know, because I couldn't.

Excerpt from DARK FUTURE:

“Mmm, you taste human. Like salt or more like … warm sunshine?” He pinned me with his gaze. His eyes spoke a primal language. Desire warred with anger; need against punishment.
I looked away. Embarrassed. Violated. His body crushed mine, suffocating in its nearness. I couldn’t move. I couldn’t even breathe without crushing my breasts against him. I always considered myself strong and physically fit, but he subdued me with barely any effort. Heart racing, I panicked.
The feeling of no control would break me—complete powerlessness always did. I used whatever weapon was available; whatever maneuvers would give me a fighting chance. This was no different. I turned my head, opened my mouth against his neck, and … sunk my teeth in.
He cursed. Grabbed hold of my shirt, picked me up, and slammed me back against the wall.
A painful whoosh came from my lungs. My vision rocked—brain swished inside my skull.
“You bit me.” He sounded shocked.
My head hurt so bad I had to blink hard to keep my eyes in their sockets. “You licked me,” I shouted back.
He assessed me, aqua blue eyes hooded with thick, long eyelashes, for what seemed like an eternity. “I will ask you one more time. Who are you?”
“I’ve told you everything.” My voice sounded desperate, tired, even to me. “I went running and fell into the dark … I’m a doctor at a hospital. If you don’t believe me, just call them. I’ve worked there for years.”
He stood still, his body hard against mine, creating an insurmountable barrier. His face so close I could see his pupils enlarge, almost hiding the hard blue of his irises. The rage in him lived and breathed. One hand ran along my scalp in a mock caress, grabbed hold of my hair and pulled.
“Liar,” his voice barely a whisper, the knife was back … shaking at my very exposed, very vulnerable artery. “There hasn’t been a hospital anywhere on Earth since the year 2075.” And in one efficient movement, he drew the knife across my throat.

Happy Reading Everyone!

Promo/Review for the new boxed set release of THE SEX DEMON TRILOGY by Jaye Shields

THE SEX DEMON TRILOGY
Confessions of a Sex Demon – Claiming of a Sex Demon
 Addictions of a Sex Demon
by Jaye Shields

Available now in one boxed set!

Tap Into Your Inner Sex Demon...

Sex demons need constant climax to survive. Orgies and promiscuous sex tend to be an everyday thing, but finding love is not. Dive into The Sex Demon Trilogy and meet three sex demons who find love in the least likely of places. With these tales of love come danger, heartbreak, and hot, hot sex like only a sex demon can do it.

Content Warning: strong language, light BDSM scenes, girl-on-girl action, and all kinds of sex demon mayhem.

CONFESSIONS OF A SEX DEMON:

Sex Demon Zahra Aniron is a closet romantic. Too bad she spends her time having hot kinky sex with paying strangers. But the sex demon has to work with what she’s got to save her sister from her debt to wizard thugs. Then again, there could be worse things than getting paid for pleasure since a sex demon needs climax to survive.

As a blacksmith, Lennox Aegros puts his fury to good use pounding steel into swords. His real cause for moving into a new town isn’t to sell weaponry, it’s for revenge. When he finds the succubus he’s been searching for, her beauty means he can mix business with pleasure. But the joke’s on Lennox, because as he succeeds in torturing his victim, he realizes that Zahra’s slow demise means the breaking of a heart he never realized he had.

The first story in the trilogy, CONFESSIONS OF A SEX DEMON, is a sexy, steamy, on the edge of BDSM, erotic romance that will leave you craving more from this talented author. Zahra is a succubus. This means that she needs sexual release in order to keep up her strength, or she will die. There’s no better profession for a young beautiful succubus who desperately need funds to pay off a debt incurred by her drug addicted adopted sister, Sephina, than prostitution. From the first page, we are drawn into the world Zahra inhabits. It's not easy, it's not glamorous, and it's certainly not safe. Then just when she thinks her station in life can sink no lower, she's kidnapped and tortured without a single notion of why. Lennox is a man set on revenge. His wife cheated on him with a male succubus who happens to be Zahra's brother, Reza. When Lennox arrives in the village of Sprecia, he's immediately drawn to the beautiful sex demon, Zahra, and plots his revenge on Reza by torturing and possibly killing his sister. The last thing Lennox expects is to fall in love with the beautiful sex demon.

I highly recommend CONFESSIONS OF A SEX DEMON by Jaye Shields if you are even the slightest bit a fan of paranormal romance. This isn't just your normal vamp/werewolf/witch paranormal either - this is much more and will have you hooked from the first steamy scene which, by the way, is exactly where the story begins.

CLAIMING OF A SEX DEMON:

It's not easy for a sex demon to find a wife, and it's even harder when the perfect woman is already taken.

Emmerie Winter has only been married a few months, but depression has made her a fragile stranger in the arms of her husband. She knows she should love him, but she doesn't, and no matter how hard she tries, she can't convince her heart otherwise.

When a sex demon with a boyish grin and a sinful body arrives in town, Emmerie's world is turned upside down. His intense passion for life sends her depression into hiding, but her feelings for the sinful male could get her in deep trouble.

A sex demon needs climax to survive, but that's never been a problem for Reza Aniron as women seem to be unable to resist his charms…all except for one, a timid, blonde angel who treats him with complete indifference. But in her eyes he can see a fire that's just waiting to be released. And he always did love a challenge.

*** Content Warning: strong language, extramarital relations, and graphic erotic situations.

CLAIMING OF A SEX DEMON by Jaye Shields is actually the prelude to CONFESSIONS OF A SEX DEMON. You will get more in the way of backstory when you read CLAIMING OF A SEX DEMON. This sort of prequel is slightly less paranormal and erotic than CONFESSIONS, but its erotic romance that takes romance to a new height. Yes, a sex demon comes to town and destroys a relationship, but somehow it seems right. Emmerie needs passion in her life, even though she cares deeply for Lennox, and Reza is definitely the man to give it to her - and boy, does he! Reza is the sexiest sex demon you will ever meet even as Emmerie is a meek little thing who doesn’t care much for sex - until she meets Reza. At first, she seems undeserving of such an impassioned man but soon her sexual side begins to awaken, and it’s obvious that she and Reza are truly meant for each other.

I highly recommend this one to anyone who wants some thrill with their romance, some naughty rather than nice, and a little bit of that somethin' somethin' that you're looking for in a steamy quick read.

ADDICTIONS OF A SEX DEMON:

Sephina is about to trade one addiction for another—and his name is Axel.

Sephina Antara has gotten into a lot of trouble as a sex demon with a drug addiction. Moving to a new village was supposed to help her get clean. But when she relapses, it comes with a side of hot dragon man.

Axel Stavros may be a drug dealer, but he's also the town healer. Half-human, half-dragon, his blood can cure just about anything, but it has some erotic side effects for its user, as the new beauty in town is about to find out…

Content Warning: graphic language, hot foreplay, and even hotter sex, including light bondage and some girl-on-girl action.

The third story in the trilogy, ADDICTIONS OF A SEX DEMON, takes us further into the unusual realm in which we are journeying when we meet the sexiest half-man half-dragon you could ever imagine – Axel Stavros. He’ll have you fanning yourself and begging for more. Sephina is a succubus or sex demon with pink hair and a great need. She needs regular sexual climax to stay healthy and with her addiction to ground fae wing, she needs a lot. Meeting Axel, a Quetzelam in heat, is her salvation since he’s in need of even more sex than she can ever want. It’s a win-win situation for both and a thrill for us, even when things get dangerous.

Jaye Shields never ceases to amaze me at how much action, story line, and hot, steamy sex she manages to fit into a novella. In ADDICTIONS OF A SEX DEMON, she does no less. Not only does she continue to create a world that is both unusual yet recognizable, she gives us a deeper insight into the world of the Quetzelam as well as their unusual needs, and fears. Axel is sexy, hot stuff, and in more ways than one, yet intriguing and very easy to fall in love with, just as Sephina does.

THE SEX DEMON TRILOGY:

Unwrapping a Review of DIRTY THOUGHTS, a Mechanics of Love novel by Megan Erickson

A while back, I did a cover reveal as part of an Avon Impulse tour for DIRTY THOUGHTS, book 1 in the Mechanics of Love series by Megan Erickson and shared an excerpt as well. After reading the excerpt myself, I knew without a doubt that I wanted to read this book. The heat between Cal and Jenna simply poured off the page and I was hooked. Oh boy, was I glad I decided to read this one.

***purchased for my own personal reading but sharing my honest and unscripted review with you.

Blurb for DIRTY THOUGHTS:

Some things are sexier the second time around.

Cal Payton has gruff and grumbly down to an art...all the better for keeping people away. And it usually works. Until Jenna MacMillan---his biggest mistake---walks into Payton and Sons mechanic shop all grown up, looking like sunshine, and inspiring more than a few dirty thoughts.

Jenna was sure she was long over the boy she'd once loved with reckless abandon, but one look at the steel-eyed Cal Payton has her falling apart all over again. Ten years may have passed, but the pull is stronger than ever... and this Cal is all man.

Cal may have no intention of letting Jenna in, but she's always been his light, and it's getting harder to stay all alone in the dark. When a surprise from the past changes everything, Cal and Jenna must decide if their connection should be left alone or if it's exactly what they need for the future of their dreams.

~*~           ~*~           ~*~           ~*~            ~*~

Cal Payton is grumpy even on a good day. His life wasn’t going anything like he hoped once upon a time. When he graduated high school, he had hopes of opening a motorcycle repair shop and marrying his beautiful girlfriend but that all came to sudden stop when he punched her obnoxious brother. When her family threatened charges, the girl he loved broke things off with him and left town. His father, a bitter and angry man in his own right, refuses to allow bikes to be worked on his car repair garage and Cal feels his choices are running out. It might be time to step away from the family he’s always felt responsible for, and create his own life.

Jenna MacMillan had stayed away from the town she’d grown up in, where her family ruled supreme, and the only boy to ever truly claim her heart still lived. She’s returned to Tory to use her public relation skills to help bring her family’s business back from the brink of destruction her brother had managed to cause and now home was home again but was it possible for things to work the way they should have, perhaps even better, the second time around?

Megan Erickson has conjured the most realistic, intriguing, and eclectic group of characters in DIRTY THOUGHTS, and I loved them all…well, except for Dylan…or Dill Pickle, as Delilah refers to him, which still makes me laugh. The easy way between the characters, the natural dialogue, and the way their feelings come through make the folks of Tory into friends and family. Cal recognizes that he’s allowing the bitterness of the last ten years and the sense of having lost his childhood because of his parents’ selfishness and having to be father and brother to his two siblings wear on him and he fears becoming exactly like his old man. Having the woman he never stopped loving, the woman who could brighten his day with just a smile, come back into his life was a start especially after she told him the truth of the past. He tries to stay away from her though because he doesn't want to go down that road again...doesn't want to get hurt again. He tries to keep to his isolated place away from everyone so he can have peace of heart, mind, and soul but Jenna isn’t that easy to ignore. Especially when a new brother, a half-brother, a teenage brother from his mother’s second marriage that he never even knew existed shows up on his doorstep, needing him. She takes him and Asher under her wing, and together they become the family the young man needs. But the most amazing thing is watching Cal open his heart to both of them.

Watching these characters change and grow, fall in love, create love and acceptance, and worry and fret as only a family can, makes the Paytons my new favorites. Other than stumbling over editing errors sprinkled throughout the writing, there was nothing at all wrong with this story. It flowed with ease, steamed up my glasses with the passion between Cal and Jenna, kept me hooked page after page, and made me smile when I needed to and my heart ache when Cal felt the world closing in on him. He’s a real man and Jenna is his perfect match. I can’t wait to read Brent’s story next. Yes, I’m a bit behind because DIRTY TALK is already out but it's waiting on my reader. I'm coming, Brent!

If you love a good small town, second chance at love romance, if you love strong realistic characters full of life and faults, DIRTY THOUGHTS by Megan Erickson is for you. I highly recommend you read this one. Jenna is not just Cal’s Sunshine - I think she’s everyone’s Sunshine.
